Alliance Assault Rifle ~ Anglo Sino Alliance troops are seen with a variety of rifles, either bullpup or the more conventional rifle layout.
Several props have been seen to be used. The bullpup example being the SA-80 bullpup assault rifle, the standard-issue assault rifle of the British Army and the rest of the British armed forces. The more standard rifle being a Heckler & Koch G36 or its carbine variant the G36K.
Alliance Pistol ~The standard sidearm for officers of the Anglo-Sino Alliance. Cmdr. Harken was seen with this weapon in Bushwhacked.
Alliance Submachinegun ~ An SMG in service with the Anglo-Sino Alliance Military. Often seen in the hands of Alliance troopers.
Auto Pistols ~ A commonly-seen style of pistol used by many (though revolvers are also common). For examples from the crew's stash, Zoe weilds two during the raid on Adelei Niska's Sky Plex inWar Stories, River shoots three guys with her eyes closed in the same episode, and lets not forget River's other experience with such a weapon in Objects In Space. River's "tree branch" was a chrome plated Desert Eagle from Magnum Research. With it's distinctive profile, it has cropped up in many movies including the Matrix movies as the Agents side-arm of choice. In The Message, Mal and Zoe's old pal Tracey pulls an autoloading pistol on the crew and gives Wash a nice crease along the temple with it. He never gets the chance to fire it again.
Buhnder ~ A gun, presumably one of a fairly unusual caliber. Jayne indicates there are no rounds to be found on the Space Bazaar Sky Plex for this weapon. (The Message)
Callahan Fullbore Autolock ~ The Callahan full-bore autolock is the make and model of Jayne's BFG. It featured a customized hair-trigger and double-cartridge thorough gauge. Though it's not obvious, this would seem to indicate that the weapon can dynamically switch bore sizes depending on the size of cartridge the user desires. This weapon is introduced when Jayne tries to trade his "Vera" to Mal in exchange for Saffron in Our Mrs Reynolds.
It is worth noting that the Callahan is the only weapon on Serenity (or at least in Jayne's collection) that has armor-piecing capabilities: though Jayne is unsure whether it would be able to pierce the hull of Serenity herself.
Chaplain Pistol ~A fancy pistol. Nandi had one of these weapons for personal defense.
Fifty-four R Sniper Rifle ~ Sniper rifle used by Adelei Niska’s men. Shepherd Book describes this weapon from just the wounds on dead men. (War Stories)
Possibly a reference to the current standard Russian sniper and medium machine gun round, the 7.62x54R in which case Book may be referring genericly to any rifle that fires this round.
Grizwald Grenade ~ A pressure sensitive anti-personnel grenade the size of a battery. Described by Zoe at a table discussion on why Mal and Zoe cut their apples instead of just biting into them.
HOB Rods ~ A weapon employed by the "Hands Of Blue" agents. A small rod-like device the width of an average hand that, when activated, triples its length by extending outwards from the ends. This weapon uses ultra sonics and causes a target of organic origin to bleed profusely from its orifices and fingernails. Within a few seconds the target’s blood supply is a puddle on the floor. It appears to work on people within a certain radius, but leaves the Hands Of Blue agents unaffected. (Seen in Ariel.)
Inaras Pistol ~ A finely-made 'dress' pistol, probably modified for accuracy... and quiet. Seen in Trash
Independent Faction Assault Rifles ~ 1. A bull-pup configuration rifle used by Sgt. Malcolm Reynolds at the Battle of Serenity Valley. (Seen in the hands of Mal during the opening credits of all episodes of Firefly as well as during the opening scene of the Serenity Pilot, Part 1.
(The prop of this weapon is a FAMAS assault rifle, a weapon in service with the French military.)
2. Mal switches this weapon out at the base camp - he retrives a more conventional rifle of the same make as that carried by Zoe. It would seem that the Independents make use of a number of weapons.
(The prop for this weapon is the Heckler and Koch G36, a weapon system currently in service with the German Forces as well as the NATO Rapid Reaction Force. It is also the basis, with the addition a magazine adapter and a snap on 25mm cannon, of the next generation US weapon... the OICW - Objective Individual Combat Weapon)
3. During the wartime flashback of the episode The Message we see Mal using a smaller submachinegun with a folding or collapsable stock. (The prop for this weapon is the Heckler and Koch UMP-45. A .45 caliber submachinegun that fires the .45 ACP round from a 25 round magazine.)
Laser Pistols ~ Advanced technology not authorized for public use. Rarely seen out of the Alliance Military’s hands, and for good reason; they’re extremely lethal in the hands of anyone. As seen in Heart Of Gold, Rance Burgess’ model was a silk trigger, active-return bolt laser and a lot lighter than it looked. Unlike Burgess?' weapon, Alliance issued version don't yet have the auto-target adjust; his was crafted special.
Lassiter ~ One of only two remaining original handheld Laser Pistols from Earth-that-was known to exist, the Lassiter is the forerunner of all modern laser technology. Durran Haymer picked this prize up during the war. Stolen from Haymer’s possession in 2517, its whereabouts are now unknown. As of The Message the crew still hadn’t fenced this rare item. (Trash, The Message)
